Martha Shadan, Chief Executive Officer

Ms. Martha Shadan joined Rotation Medical in 2013, bringing more than three decades of marketing and commercialization expertise to her role as CEO. Shadan joined Rotation Medical in 2013, bringing more than three decades of marketing and commercialization expertise to her role as CEO. She has held senior executive positions in leading medical device companies, including President of the Trauma Division at Zimmer, Vice President/General Manager of Vascular Therapies and Vice President/General Manager of Biosurgery and Sports Surgery at Covidien, and senior roles at Bristol Myers Squibb and EMD Millipore. Shadan earned her M.B.A. from Northeastern University, M.S. in biology from Michigan State University and a B.S. in biology from the University of New Hampshire. She is a member of AdvaMed, sitting on the board of directors for the organization as well as its Accel division, and she is part of the leadership circle for its Women’s Executive Network (WEN).

Tom Westling, Chairman and COO

A co-founder of Rotation Medical, Mr. Tom Westling has more than 20 years of experience in the medical device industry. Previously, Mr. Westling led the R&D team for Cameron Health, where he developed the world’s first Subcutaneous Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator (SICD).

Earlier in his career, Mr. Westling worked for Guidant Corporation in engineering and management positions within Advanced Manufacturing Engineering, Product Development, and Manufacturing as well as Vice President of Product Development for the Cardiac Rhythm Management Group.

Mr. Westling earned a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Kettering University and a M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan.

Randy Nuernberg, Vice President, R&D

Mr. Randy Nuernberg joined Rotation Medical in 2011. With more than 30 years of medical device industry experience, Mr. Nuernberg spent the majority of his career with Guidant Corporation and Boston Scientific in a variety of engineering and management positions. He also served as the Vice President of R&D for Active Implantable Devices.

Mr. Nuernberg holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Minnesota.

Craig Van Kampen, Ph.D., Chief Science Officer

Dr. Craig Van Kampen joined Rotation Medical in 2009 and has more than 30 years’ experience in biomedical research and development. Previously, Dr. Van Kampen served as Vice President of R&D for Excorp Medical, a development-stage, bioartificial liver company.

He also was a biomedical research projects consultant and served as the President, CEO and co-founder of Bioelastic Tissue Engineering Corporation. Earlier in his career, Dr. Van Kampen worked for Medtronic as the R&D Director in the Center for Biomaterials Research as well as at 3M, where he held a variety of technical and management positions.

Dr. Van Kampen holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering and a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from Case Western Reserve University. He was named as inventor on more than 10 patents, authored more than 20 publications and has written three book chapters.

Allan Gorsett, Vice President, Business Development

Mr. Allan Gorsett joined the Rotation Medical team in 2011. He has more than 20 years of medical device industry experience.

Concurrently, Mr. Gorsett is a CEO Group Chairman for Vistage International, where he serves as a CEO business performance advisor. Earlier in his career, Mr. Gorsett held a variety of management positions in Finance, Advanced Manufacturing Engineering, Human Resources, Reliability and Quality Assurance, and Vice President of North Atlantic Operations for Guidant Corporation.

Mr. Gorsett holds a B.S. in Business Administration from Northern State University and a M.B.A. from the University of Minnesota.

David Crompton, Chief IP and General Counsel

Mr. David Crompton joined Rotation Medical in 2010 with more than 20 years of intellectual property experience. Previously, Mr. Crompton was a partner in Crompton, Seager and Tufte, LLC, an intellectual property law firm focused on medical technologies.

Earlier in his career, he was the Chief IP and General Counsel for Hearing Components, Inc. and also worked with the Chief Patent Counsel of Medtronic. Mr. Crompton drafted and prosecuted domestic patent applications for Merchant and Gould P.A. and was in Manufacturing Engineering for Dow Corning.

Mr. Crompton earned a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology, and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Michigan. He is licensed to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office and the State of Minnesota.

Michael McNulty, Vice President of Sales and Marketing

Mr. McNulty joined Rotation Medical in mid-2014. He brings more than 16 years of global medical device commercial experience at both large and small companies. Previously, Mr. NcNulty served as the Vice President of Sales for Arstasis, where he was responsible for market development, commercial launch, sales training and sales management.

Earlier in his career, Mr. McNulty held a variety of sales positions at Cordis, a Johnson & Johnson company. He also served as an officer in the Armor Cavalry Branch of the United States Army.

Mr. McNulty holds a B.A. in History from Clemson University.
